Seems pending asualt charges don't sit well with ABC Daytime brass

Nathaniel Marston (Michael, One Life to Live)Well, it is official:  Nathaniel Marston was forced to say goodbye to his role as Michael McBain following a brush with the law earlier this month in New York City.

“He leaves the show with our sincere appreciation for his many contributions and our support as he addresses personal challenges,” a spokesperson for One Life to Live was quoted in this week’s Soap Opera Digest.  Marston, who also portrayed Eddie Silva on As The World Turns from 1998 to 2000, faces assault charges.  There was no word on a recast at press time, but sources confirm that the character will indeed return to the canvas.  Marston wrote his own personal goodbye to fans on his official website (nathanielmarston.net ):

“Now that ABC has officially commented, I can confirm that I have been let go from One Life to Live.  I don’t think of this as an ending, but rather the beginning of a new chapter in my life.  Your support and encouragement have meant the world to me and have buoyed my spirits in a trying time.  I know that my absence from the show will be a disappointment to many of you.  All I can say is let the decision-makers at ABC know how you feel…”

“As you know, I did not start my career in soap operas, but in commercials, film and primetime television.  I will continue to pursue these avenues, as well as any other opportunities that come my way… and I hope you’ll come along for the ride as I embark on the next phase of my career.”

Soapdom wishes Marsten well as he faces his legal battles and personal struggles.  We hope to see him appear in something new real soon.

Behind the scenes Days of our Lives: Production Designer

As Production Designer on Days of our Lives, Dan Olexiewicz knows how to construct a set. Yes! He is the man behind the famous Horton Town Square, one of the most popular sets used on the show and probably the largest. I mean who would not want to shop there with those unique stores? Or the new TBD Bar where everyone gathers to talk about their trials and tribulations, or plot their next move.

In layman's terms, Olexiewicz controls the designing of the sets. "Yes! I do (Laughing). I do the color scheme, I determine what kind of furniture will be used, and I collaborate with the set decorator giving me a feel of what needs to be done," he said. "I usually begin with a plan that is turned into a floor plan, and we go from there."
