Read with Caution
Although the spokesperson for One Life to Live has remained "unavailable for comment," rumors are rampant that One Life to Live is reportedly tinkering with a storyline that was to have had both James DePaiva (Max Holden) and Nathaniel Marston (Al Holden) checking out of Llanview. The reason for the storyline changes, according to a setside source, was a surprisingly vocal outcry by fans of Marston.
It was first reported in July that Marston would be written out of the show. The move seemed surprising, since Marston is one-half of one of the show's most popular couples in recent memory -- Al (Marston) and Marcie played by Kathy Brier, pictured above. The decision to write Al off was said to be storyline dictated -- apparently the intention of the writers to kill off the character.
A week or so later, DePaiva announced at the annual One Life to Live fan gathering that he had been let go. The news came as a surprise to fans, but DePaiva hinted that he had expected to be let go -- and Internet rumors had alluded to DePaiva's impending exit for months.
"They made it clear a long time ago that this was going to happen, so it wasn't a shock or a surprise," DePaiva said.
Internet rumors now state that it is Max who will meet with an untimely demise. Not only that, Max's death will bring about the return of a OLTL favorite -- Luna, played by Susan Batten. Luna will come for Max and escort him to heaven.
DePaiva was notified that he had taped his final episodes on August 8th. However, it is now believed that DePaiva will be asked to return to film some addition episodes to faciliate the storyline change.
Amanda Cortinas is Out as Adrianna
In more casting news, One Life to Live has confirmed that Amanda Cortinas, who originated the role of Adrianna in July, will exit the show later this month. Adrianna may be on her way out of Llanview, but Cortinas is on her way to Los Angeles.
Fans have started an online petition to keep the actress on the show. "I'm very touched," she says of their efforts. "It's heart-warming to know that your work is appreciated.
Even if she doesn't make her way back to OLTL, Cortinas has other reasons to return east. "Ultimately I'd like to do Broadway," she explains, adding, "I like both coasts, but New York has a big chunk of my heart. And New Jersey has the other half!"
