Long time Dimitri fans of All My Children are rejoicing today with news that Michael Nader, who was jettisoned from his role as the infamous count Dimitri Marick after an unfortunate incident involving drinking and driving some years ago (thanks to the morals clause in his contract with ABC Daytime), has been asked back to the Prospect Park produced version of the soap opera, available now at TOLN.com.
It’s been more than a decade since actor Michael Nader’s Dimitri Marick stepped foot in Pine Valley, but thanks to Prospect Park’s The OnLine Network, longtime fans can look forward to reuniting with Nader’s brooding character when he returns to the beloved series on June 3rd.
Read on with caution. Contains scoopage.
In the story, Brooke English, played by actress Julia Barr, has offered Dimitri a job as head of one of Chandler Enterprises new divisions – Chandler Media – which he gratefully accepts. How will Pine Valley residents react to Dimitri’s return after all these years? One thing is certain. He's a bit older, a bit more seasoned, but is he any wiser?
All My Children fans fell in love with Nader’s role as Dimitri when he first appeared on the show back in 1991. His passionate romance with Erica Kane (Susan Lucci) made Nader half of one of television’s first power couples. Heck, she even stabbed him, was on trial for attempted murder, but they reunited and remarried after that rebellious incident! Could the return of Dimitri mark the return of Erica as well?
Regarding his return to the series, Nader said, "I got a call from executive producer Ginger Smith who said Prospect Park is relaunching All My Children'online. She said 'we'd love for you to come back.' And I said, 'you want me, you got me.' Being back, is like being home."
Nader began his acting career appearing in the 1960s classic party movies “Beach Blanket Bingo,” “Pajama Party,” “Ski Party,” “How To Stuff a Wild Bikini,” and “Sergeant Dead Head.” His other television credits include “Gidget,” “As the World Turns,” “Magnum P.I.” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” “Cold Case,” to name a few. Nader may be best remembered for his role of ‘Dex Dexter’ on the primetime soap “Dynasty,” opposite the actress Joan Collins.
Soapdom congratulates Michael Nader on his return to Pine Valley and waits with high anticipation to see just how Dimitri will impact the lives of the town's denizens.
Be sure to tune in June 3rd to catch his debut appearance.
