Jesse McCartneyFormer All My Children child star, grammy nominated actor/singer, Jesse McCartney, has just been recruited for the recurring role of Private Tim Truman on the seventh season of Army Wives.

McCartney makes the third All My Children veteran actor to star on the series.  Kim Delaney (ex Jenny, AMC - -who is expected to exit Army Wives in the upcoming season), Susan Lucci (Erica, AMC) and now McCartney.

This is one reason why Soapdom believes strongly in the power of daytime television.  It feeds actors, well trained on camera actors, into the primetime and feature film funnell... but we digress.

THR broke the story of McCartney's latest role today.  According to their report, his character "is a young, eager and enthusiastic soldier determined to prove himself on his first deployment."  He is married to his high school sweetheart, farm girl Holly Truman (played by new series regular, Elle McLemore.)

In 1998, McCartney got his start on All My Children as J.R. Chandler, the son of ruthless tycoon Adam Chandler (David Canary) and Dixie Martin (Cady McClain).  He remained in the role through 2000, when storyline dictated aging the character.

Along with voicing characters in a number of games and animated projects, McCartney has also starred on prime time series Summerland and Greek among others.

Days of our Lives' Brendan Michael Coughlin enjoys playing Tad and being a new dad

When asked what it is like to play Tad on Days of our Lives, Brendan Michael Coughlin shouts exuberantly, "I love him!"

Coughlin has been playing the so-called behind the scenes instigator for the last two years. He has no family that is ever mentioned on the show, but he is there. He came on as Will's (Guy Wilson) best friend, but when it became clear that Will was gay, Tad did everything but bash and degrade and mock him. The irony? At the recent wedding of Will and Sonny (Freddie Smith), he was best man. Go figure!

"I know. It has been a wild ride. I did a whole turn around, and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed doing the wedding. I really enjoy playing this guy. He is a total goof-off. He means well, but is always on the wrong side of the rope." Coughlin said. "I have grown to love him. He is comic relief. I always had dramatic roles, so this is fun."
