It's a special commemorative episode

Tony Geary (Luke) & Genie Francis (Laura) General HospitalIn celebration of the 25th anniversary of Luke and Laura's original wedding, "General Hospital's" popular couple will tie the knot once again on the same date as their original anniversary, November 16, 2006.  The original Luke and Laura wedding was seen by a record 30 million viewers and created a national pop-culture phenomenon.

In the November 16th episode, the love story continues for Luke and Laura's special day when the super couple recite their vows in front of family and friends. Their grown children, Lucky, Lulu and Laura's son, Nikolas, help to participate in the wedding party. The ceremony goes off without a hitch until evil Helena Cassadine once again shows up to cast a shadow on the celebration. Luke's current wife, Tracy Quartermaine, also has a trick up her sleeve that affects the outcome of the wedding. We'll all have to tune in to see how it's going to play out, but we have a sneaking suspicion that fireworks will erupt.

As previously reported by Soapdom, in addition to the special commemorative episode on ABC Daytime on November 16th, you also have a chance to revisit the original 1981 wedding on SOAPnet on Friday, November 24 during a five-hour marathon, "Luke and Laura 25: Something Old, Something New" from 7:00-11:00 p.m., ET, followed by an original one-hour special hosted by Tony Geary and Genie Francis, "Luke and Laura: The Love Story Revealed."

Soapers ~ a movement, a philosophy, a new book

When ABC announced the cancellation of long time fan favorite soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live in the spring of 2011, all havoc broke loose. Passionate fans took to the internet, boycotted ABC's advertisers, called for the firing of then ABC Daytime head, Brian Frons (who spearheaded the cancellations), picketed the studio, did anything and everything they possibly could to let the network know just how unhappy they were with the network's decision to dump their continuing stories for the more cost efficient lifestyle and talk shows that were to replace the soaps.

One such loyal fan, Flo DiBona, has chronicled the events of this tumultuous time in her new book, Soapers.
