Dallas 2012 (c) TNTPrimetime soaper, Dallas 2.0 (aka the reboot of the 1978 primetime soap, Dallas) premiered on TNT last night to 6.86 million viewers. It is the the top scripted series premiere on cable in 2012, according to TNT, but a still a far cry from the 33 million who tuned in to the CBS series finale back in 1991.

But that was then. This is now! And 6.8 million viewers is music to TNT's ears.

Dallas is TNT's third series in as many years to premiere as the most-watched scripted cable debut year-to-date, following 2011's Falling Skies and 2010's Rizzoli & Isles.

Dallas stars Larry Hagman returning in the role he created, J.R. Ewing, and Patrick Duffy (Stephen, The Bold and the Beautiful), as Bobby Ewing. Jesse Metcalf (John, Desperate Housewives; Miguel, Passions) stars as the young upstart, Chris Ewing and Jordana Brewster (ex Nikki, As the World Turns) as the beautiful Elena Ramos.

If you missed the 2-hour premiere, you can see it on line.
