On a recent episode of the Bold and the Beautiful, Taylor (Hunter Tylo) and Nick's (Jack Wagner) baby was born with a life-threatening disease, SICD (Severe Combined Immunodeficiency). Potentially fatal, it can now be diagnosed by a simple blood test, just like the one performed by Bridget (Ashley Jones) soon after baby Jack's birth. The cure? Stem cells from a bone marrow transplant. Enter Brooke (Katherine Kelly Lang) and the baby is on the road to recovery. But there are many cases where a family member may not be a match and there is an urgent need for donors. In addition to SCID, other illnesses that require bone marrow transplants include leukemia and lymphoma. It may be the only hope for a cure for many of these patients. When you become a donor, you give someone a chance for a long healthy life. For more info visit morrow.org , bloodcell.transplant.hrsa.gov and scid.net

Soapdom has learned that researchers at the University of Southern California (USC) are seeking Bold and Beautiful viewers to complete a survey about the storyline surrounding Nick, Taylor, Brooke and the birth of Baby Jack. The project is funded, in part, by money from the Centers for Disease Control. Fans who complete the survey have the chance to enter a lottery to win one of four $100 Amazon.com certificates; it is the researchers' way of saying thanks.
