Ian Buchanan (James Warwick, Bold and the Beautiful)Ian Buchanan returns to reprise his role as noted psychiatrist Dr. James Warwick on the Bold and the Beautiful beginning January 28, 2008.  And just in time, too!

Buchanan returns to the role which he played from 1993 to 1999 and then again in 2002, and for which he won a Daytime Emmy®-Award in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor, in 1997. 

“I’m thrilled to return to my old-stopping ground,” says the Scottish born Buchanan. “It’s fun to be back working with the cast and crew whom I considered family for so long.”

The character of Dr. James Warwick is called back to town by Nick Marone (Jack Wagner) to help his wife Taylor Hayes Marone (Hunter Tylo) as she struggles with her deep emotions, and the urge to drink, after learning that Brooke Logan (Katherine Kelly Lang) is the biological mother of her son with Nick.

Ah ha! The plot thickens...

Born in Hamilton, Scotland, Buchanan ventured to New York where he worked both on stage and in various television shows. He quickly landed a role on the daytime drama General Hospital, where he portrayed Duke Lavery for three years before leaving to join the cast of The Gary Shandling Show, where for two years, he portrayed Gary’s next door neighbor, Ian. Buchanan’s other credits include the role of Richard Tremayne on David Lynch’s Twin Peaks and the role of Peter Lawford in the USA Networks movie, Bobby & Marilyn. Ian’s other film credits include Double Exposure, The Cool Surface and The Seventh Sign.  He also starred as Psychiatrist Martin Dysart in a performance of Equus, a role in which he received a Los Angeles Dram-Logue Award. His other stage performances include The Maids, Losing Venice, The Heiress and Love and Anger. 

His most recent credits include an arc on the critically acclaimed Nip/Tuck and a role in the soon to be released film Train Wreck: My Life as an Idiot starring Gretchen Mol. Additionally, Buchanan currently performs in the musical repertoire, The Citizen’s Band.
