Jack Wagner, Former star of General Hospital and Melrose Place Joins B&B!

As we reported last week, The Bold and the Beautiful, television's second highest-rated daytime drama, has signed television and stage star Jack Wagner to a long-term contract.  Wagner's first appearance on the CBS series will be in a spectacular episode airing March 27 involving a sinking tanker in the Pacific Ocean.

Wagner will play "Dominick," a sea captain who works for shipping tycoon Massimo Marone (Joe Mascolo) in the popular series.

"How Jack's character is woven into the existing storylines on our show is going to be quite a surprise for our viewers," said Bradley Bell, executive producer and head writer.  "It will change the relationships of many of the existing characters on the show."

Jack Wagner is perhaps best known for his primetime television role of Dr. Peter Burns on "Melrose Place" opposite Heather Locklear, and for the many years he starred as Frisco Jones on "General Hospital."  He has also starred in numerous television movies for ABC, Lifetime and USA networks.

Wagner majored in theater in college and during his career has performed in the national tours of "West Side Story" and "Grease."  In January 2000, Jack returned to the stage to star on Broadway in the title roles of the musical "Jekyll & Hyde."  Wagner early in his career had a #1 adult contemporary hit with the song "All I Need," and was signed by legendary record producer Quincy Jones to release an album by that name followed by three more successful albums.

Jack Wagner is also the subject of a new book by author Elisa Juska entitled "Getting Over Jack Wagner" set for release in April 2003, which explores in a style reminiscent of "Bridget Jones" how women try to measure the men in their lives against their childhood "Tiger Beat" dream guy.

The Bold and the Beautiful has taped over 4,000 episodes in its 16 years on the air and is viewed daily by an estimated 300 million viewers in over 100 countries, making it the most-watched television series in the world.
