Eileen Fulton, long-time star of the CBS soap opera As The World Turns and TV’s original “bad girl,” is opening her closets for an eBay auction beginning October 20, 2006. The auction – which includes clothing, jewelry, and shoes Fulton wore on the show as well as items from her own personal collection – will be conducted by Chelsea Marketeers, a premier eBay trading service specializing in commercial accounts and private collections. Three percent of the auction’s proceeds will be donated to Bide-A-Wee, a not-for-profit animal welfare society founded in 1903.
“While cleaning out my closets this summer, I discovered gowns that I had worn only once, shoes I forgot that I even bought, and jewelry I just had to have,” said Fulton. “So I decided to auction these treasures on eBay, along with several dresses and other items I wore on As The World Turns, and donate some of the money to my favorite charity – the wonderful folks at Bide-A-Wee.”
The collection includes a luxurious mink coat, nearly 50 gowns and dresses, 17 pairs of shoes, and a dozen pieces of jewelry along with a handful of accessories. Many of the items were worn by Fulton on As The World Turns or at other public appearances, such as the Emmy Awards and her frequent cabaret performances. Some of the items are vintage, circa the early 1960s, while others are more modern – with designs by Dolce & Gabbana, Hermès, Ferragamo, Miriam Haskell, Bill Blass, Pauline Trigère, and others.
The eBay auction will run from October 20-30, with each item being sold separately. And every item sold will be accompanied by a certificate of authenticity personally signed by the star.
“We are delighted to be working with a star of Eileen’s caliber,” said Jeffrey Bernstein, CEO of Chelsea Marketeers. “And to be raising money for such a worthy cause as Bide-A-Wee.
“Our expertise in auctioning high-end fashions and other valuable items on eBay ensures that the collection will generate the kind of results that both Eileen and Bide-A-Wee are hoping for.”
Chelsea Marketeers gained its own fame by auctioning a collection of vintage Braniff flight attendant uniforms designed by Pucci and Halston. In addition to these special auctions, the company has a regular list of clients selling luxury goods, including: designer clothing and accessories; jewelry and collectibles; sculptures, other artwork, and antiques; fine Italian stationery; pottery, glass, china, and silver; and a wide variety of movie memorabilia.
