"It has been and still is a blast, and seems like no time has passed", is how Kristian Alfonso (Hope) of Days of our Lives talks about her 30th anniversary being on the show.
For 30 years the character of Hope Brady has endured every trial and tribulation possible even dealing with the death of her small son, but through it all she has taken herself and the viewer on the journey of a life time and has always remained a class act as an actress and in real life.
A native of Brockton, MA., it was one day that Alfonso received that special call from Hollywood that changed her life forever.
"Boy did it ever! I never in my wildest dreams would of planned this," Alfonso said. "It was just like all the pieces of the puzzle started to come together. It is astonishing and I truly love my job." However, she admits that in every scene, she still gets the butterflies like the first day and is nervous.
Alfonso said there are many people to thank including Ken Corday, executive producer and the late Al Rabin, former executive producer.
"These two men helped mold the character. They were -- and Ken is still --tremendous," Alfonso said. "I'm just so grateful to the opportunity that was given me."
Every storyline that the actress has done, she says was fun to do, and there is no way that she can pick one (as special). Each is a challenge and she loves to see where it goes, but admits that Princess Gina does stand out as a bit of a favorite.
"I always leave it (story) in the hands of the writers," Alfonso explains. "I'm along for the ride and enjoy it unfold. I trust them, and of course...I work with the greatest set of actors."
Soapdom wants to know, is there anything you want to tell your fans?
"Well...I think they know more about me than I know of myself. I want to thank them for being there, and for their love and support through these thirty years and always making me feel welcome in their homes. And that if not for this job, I know I'd be doing something creative. I'm just type of person."
On the personal side: Alfonso is a mother to three children, and said that she has always found time to juggle career and family. "I'm very organized. Family is always first. I also have a great team. My partner, Danny, is super, and again it all falls into place."
Looking absolutely beautiful, in fact, she looks better with every passing year, she attributes it to being and trying to stay healthy. Alfonso says that she tries to be health smart and conscious. She exercises five to six times a week. She is not a runner, but a fast walker and is a multi-tasker.
"I am. I'm always into something and I'm capable of doing several things at once," Alfonso said. "I think by being a multi-tasker you can succeed and accomplish a lot."
Being Italian, she admits her "Love for Food" -- all varieties, but has her limits. She said that she eats more than everyone and drinks a lot of water and does not believe in fad diets. And of course Italian cuisine leads the list of favorites.
The talented Alfonso plans on being around playing Hope for quite a while, maybe for another 30 years? "Oh Yea! From your mouth to Gods ear." she robustly laughs.
Alfonso also is very involved in her line of jewelry http://hopefaithmiracles.com
