Greg Vaughan (Father Eric, Days of our Lives) (c) NBCGreg Vaughan enjoys playing the holier than thou role of Father Eric Brady on Days of our Lives and says the character suits him just fine.

"You know, it really does. I'm enjoying this role" Vaughan said. "And I am a religious person. After all...I come from the bible belt of the country (Texas)."

The character of Eric was last seen on Days of our Lives about a 12 years ago, then played by Jensen Eckles (who now stars as FBI agent Dean Winchester on the CW's Supernatural). When the character left Salem, he was quite the "playboy." So who would of thought he'd return as a man of the cloth?

"Go figure. It makes it interesting. A Priest? "Vaughan jokingly said. "You know, I hope the writers and show play this role for a duration. It will be interesting to see where it goes."

Vaughan accepted the role, but admitted that he was exploring other options, saying,"I always have the irons in the fire."

When the offer was presented, he listened, and tested for the role, and won. "I believe a big factor in me getting the part is that everyone was familiar with my work. They knew what I can do. And I have the chemistry with the talent, which is vital."

No stranger to the business, Vaughan was ex-Lucky on General Hospital, ex-Diego on Young and Restless, and Kai on 90210. He also guested in several sitcoms and has appeared in films, including his latest projects "Playdate" and "Two In," where he co-stars with Alison Sweeney (Sami of Days) and is set to be out around Valentine's Day.

Vaughan said that doing daytime TV is a great gig. With films and many projects you are away from home, but with Days it is a job with hours and a steady income.

"It really is. I love what I do. It's like the regular job. Go to work, come home, and you have a life," he said.

Vaughan is married with a few kids and is partnered along with his wife, Touriya, co-owning a public relations firm that they founded called THV where his clients include fashion designers and they work with the major networks and movie studios.

Soapdom wants to know if there is anything you want to say to your fans? "Oh Boy! Just that I want the fans to know that I love them, and that I am grateful to every one of them."
