Soapdom has just learned that Natalia Livingston (Rebecca, General Hospital) is soon to be moving on from the role she created about a year ago.
Livingston first arrived in Port Charles in her Emmy-winning role of Emily Quartermaine in 2003. During that time she played the love interest of real life, on again off again boyfriend, Tyler Christopher (Nikolas). The character of Emily was killed off in early 2008, but continued to appear on recurring status as Emily's ghost. Her last episode as Emily was in May 2008.
Always a fan favorite, the fans were ecstatic when it was announced that Livingston would return in January 2009 in the role of Rebecca Shaw. Rebecca turned out to be Emily's long lost twin and was soon accepted by the Quartermaine family, and of course, by Emily's one true love, Nikolas.
Liviingston won a Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2005. That same year, she and Tyler Christopher (Nikolas) were nominated for a Special Fan Award for Irresistable Combination. They were also nominated for a Soap Opera Digest Award for Favorite New Couple that same year.
As of this time, it is not clear exactly when or how Emily will be written out, but we are sure it will make for some interesting soap watching.
General Hospital told Soapdom that "we were thrilled that we were able to get Natalia back for a second run, after her Emmy winning turn as Emily Quartermaine. The character of Rebecca Shaw will soon depart the canvas and Natalia has decided to pursue other projects. A beloved member of the GH family, the entire cast and crew wish her well in all her future endeavors."
