Mathison helps turn mattress into Ronald McDonald fundraiser

100 Lucky NYC Fans Got to Share a Bed with Cameron!

This event was sure to give soap opera fans sweet dreams! Cameron Mathison, (Ryan of ABC’s “All My Children”) christened a new Select Comfort store on 72nd Street and Broadway in New York City last week and helped raise money for a charitable cause.

Over 100 female fans came out to cozy up to Mathison. Each fan paid $1 to have their picture taken with Mathison and share a moment with the hunky daytime television star -- all for a good cause.  Select Comfort is the “Official Bed Provider” for Ronald McDonald House Charities which is the organization that houses families of sick children while they receive medical treatment in nearby hospitals.

Mathison arrived fresh from the studio around 6pm for the “ribbon-cutting” ceremony which was actually conducted twice so all the photographers could capture the moment. Excited fans greeted him with shouts of “I love you Ryan!” and lined up for their turn on the bed with him.

First, Mathison held a photo op on a Select Comfort bed, so the press could capture him in various sexy poses. Click for photos

Then, the first fan happily jumped up on the bed next to Cameron and the fun began. In a sweet gesture out of respect for his wife, Cameron asked the photographers not to photograph him cuddling with the female fans, but no fan missed the opportunity. There was a “Michael Jackson” moment, when two boys joined Cameron on the beds and posed.

The event raised over $300, an amount to be matched by Select Comfort.  Mathison was pleased to be a part of this event. “I am very happy to help Select Comfort celebrate its grand opening in New York City,” said Mathison. “I am also pleased to help raise money for Ronald McDonald House Charities. Select Comfort’s support of Ronald McDonald House provides families with a comfortable place to stay and a more restful night’s sleep.”  Not to mention that he got to make the day for about 100 lucky fans!
