Soap stars take on "Sign of the Cross."

Soap Stars Shine in Gritty New Independent Feature, The Signs of the Cross

Ilene Kristen (Roxy, OLTL) was recently relegated recurring status in Llanview, but the timing couldn’t have been more perfect.  Along with ATWT’s Eileen Fulton (Lisa) Kristen landed a starring role The Signs of the Cross, a film written, directed and produced by former soap alum, John Reidy (Jason, Loving).  Dan Lauria (ex Gus, OLTL) and Carol Alt also star.

The Signs of the Cross follows three stages in the tumultuous life of John Coyne (John Reidy).  Born a poor Irish Catholic with an abusive, alcoholic father, John finds no solace in the Catholic school and church he attends.  As a young adult, John endures a tragic loss that leaves him alone to deal with his own destructive behavior and addiction.
Finally, a mature John must find the strength to overcome his most dangerous opponent if he wishes to live the free and happy life he has long desired.

Ilene Kristen plays the role of Mrs. Coyne, mom to John and the wife of the abusive father. The role is a departure from the brashy, trashy Roxy Balsom on OLTL.  "I don't wear any makeup or wild clothes," she told TV Guide Online’s Delaina Dixon back in February.  The character of Mrs. Coyne is an abused mother struggling to bring hope to her troubled young son.  Dan Lauria plays the husband.  "I  know these types of women. I worked with a lot of them when I ran my arts program for homeless kids. And I feel a lot of compassion for them."

Eileen Fulton plays the character of Betty.  We don’t know too much about Betty, only that she seems to be a bar fly.

But the good news is fans can see The Signs of the Cross at two upcoming film festivals:

Long Island International Film Expo on Sunday, July 17, at 4:30pm at Long Island’s Bellmore Theatre

Pocono Mountains Film Festival (Check the official website for date, time and venue.)  http://www.poconomountainsfilmfestival.com/filmaccp.php

Days of our Lives' Nathan Owens may soon begin to unravel

Look out Salem!  The Doctor is in the house, and he may even make house calls.

Nathan Owens came on the Days of our Lives canvas over the holidays as the new Dr. Cameron Davis (previously played by Schuyler Yancey) and he can kind of be referred to as the "man of mystery."

"Oh Yea! Without a doubt. I have issues that will soon come out," Owens said. "Let's just say that there are skeletons in my closet and some deep secrets, and soon everything will start coming to a (breaking) point."
