Join Catherine for the Kids, Dogs, Fun event in NYC on Saturday, July 31, 2004…
…and maybe, just maybe, your child and/or doggy could be the next Buster Brown and Ty! Yup. That’s right. The Kids, Dogs, Fun event kicks off a nationwide photo contest for new shoe box cover faces, and OLTL’s Catherine Hickland (Lindsay) proud owner of five cats and three dogs, will be there to help judge kids and dogs on behalf of the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals, Inc.
Buster Brown Shoes is 100 years old this year and celebrates a century of kids, dogs and fun with a national search for six new “pairs to remember” – boys and girls with their dogs to be featured on Buster Brown Shoe boxes and win $5,000 savings bonds. The search will have its official kickoff at the 100th birthday celebration on July 31, 2004 at Chelsea Piers in NYC. Kids in New York who are between the ages of 2-12 will be invited to have their photos taken and submitted on the spot; families are also welcome to have their own photos of their child and dog to submit at the event.
And just in case you need to know this bit of info, here are the words to the official Buster Brown theme song:
Does your shoe have a boy inside?
What a funny place for a boy to hide
Does your shoe have a dog there too
A boy and a dog and a foot in a shoe.
Well the boy is Buster Brown
And the dog is Ty his friend
And they’re really just a picture
But it’s fun to play pretend
So look, look, look in the telephone book
For a store that sells this shoe
With a picture of a boy and a dog inside
So you can put your foot in too!
The event runs from 10 AM – 2 PM on Saturday, July 31 at the Chelsea Piers Covered Pavilion and Hockey Rink, Pier 62 Pavilion and East Roller Rink, Pier 62
23rd Street at the Hudson Rive, New York, NY 10011
Participants can guarantee an opportunity to be photographed at the event by registering in advance at http://www.busterbrownshoes.com; non-registered guests will be admitted and invited to participate as space allows. Online registration available through July 29, 2004.
