Fan Favorite Jane Elliot Returns on November 13, 2003
Emmy Award winning actress Jane Eliot joins the list of big returns to General Hospital this fall. Elliot will reprise the role of the delectably manipulative Tracy Quartermaine, widely adored among General Hospital’s loyal viewers. She joins returning favorites Anthony Geary (Luke), Into Rademacher (Jax) and the debut of former Port Charles star, Kelly Monaco as Samantha McCall. Elliot’s first airdate is Friday, November 14 and it won’t be long before the wickedly competitive Tracy gets mixed up with Luke, Jax and Sam.
“Tracy is one of General Hospital’s richest and most unpredictable characters and Jane is such a phenomenal actress,” enthused executive producer Jill Farren Phelps, who worked with Elliot during her first run at GH 25 years ago. “We are so delighted to have Jane return to the General Hospital family.”
“I’m the luckiest person on earth,” exclaimed Elliot on her return to GH. “Where else but in daytime television can you create a role 25 years ago, be gone for a decade, and come back to the loving arms of the people you left behind?”
Eliott created the role of Tracy Quartermaine, the always scheming daughter of Edward and Lila Quartermaine in 1978. She left the show after winning and Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting actress for her portrayal. She returned to the show from 1989 until 1993 during which time she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy. Elliot made a brief return to GH this past year, when Tracy returned to Port Charles to reveal some shocking news to Skye that she is not really a Quartermaine and to leave behind her teenage son Dillon, whose recent behavior since arriving in Port Charles is evidence that he needs his mother nearby. Tracy is sure to shake up the Quartermaines, daytime television’s most dysfunctional and powerful family. One of the most talked about Tracy Quartermaine moments is when Tracy knowingly and selfishly withheld heart medication from her father Edward when she thought he was dying.
Elliot’s extensive credits include contract roles on Knots Landing, All My Children, The City, Days of our Lives and Guiding Light. Elliot has guest-starred on Law & Order, Barnaby Jones, Kojak, and The Mod Squad to name a few. She was also nominated for a Daytime Emmy for her work on Days of our Lives.
