Days Airs One-Minute Sneak Preview During Passions on Monday, December 15, 2003

NBC's Xmas Gift to Fans!  Read with Caution - Contains Scoopage

Just when Days fans thought they'd seen and heard it all when it comes to the Serial Stalker story, NBC is sponsoring another promotion to highlight the latest develepments. Only one small complication. Days fans will have to keep their remotes glued to NBC after Days on Monday, December 15, 2003 and continue to watch Passions.  That's when the network will air a special one-minute preview of what’s to come in the final two weeks of 2003 on Days of our Lives during the network’s Passions' broadcast.

Soapdom broke the story late last week in Suds Buzz soon as it was announced by Sheraton Kalouria, Senior Vice President of Daytime Programming, NBC Entertainment.  And why? Because this special on-air sneak peak will highlight major story events -- including Chloe’s return to Salem, a Christmas miracle and a wedding to die for -- all of which will unfold as part of the “Salem Stalker” storyline in episodes airing during the weeks of December 22 and December 29.

“With a riveting month ahead on 'Days,' and audiences ravenous for information on the Salem Serial Killer, this sneak preview is our early Christmas present to fans," Kalouria said.

So we put a call in to our contacts at NBC to see if we could get a little more dish on what was to happen later this month in the Salem Serial Killer story. Rumors are circulating the internet that Roman could be the next victim -- meeting his fate on the last day of the year. NBC would neither confirm or deny.  Thanks to a TV Guide interview with James E. Reilly, we also learned that Tony (Thaao Penghlis) would be injured during a circus accident and that the Serial Killer would be revealed to audiences in early January as he sneaks into Tony's hospital room and tries to hasten Tony's demise.  Click here for that story

But what other tidbits could NBC share with Soapdom exclusively about the upcoming trials and tribulations for the denizens of Salem?

"You will see a first look at Kate's wedding dress!" revealed Sheraton Kalouria. "Plus, for the first time in NBC daytime history, we will be using video snypes over daytime programming to promote Chloe and Brady's reunion and their being back together. "  (Click photo for enlargement.)

What are video snypes you may ask? They are the little video clips embedded into the lower left of your TV screen that show something completely different from what you're already watching. For example, NBC primetime aired video snypes for "Average Joe," where we saw the beauty walking on the beach, and for the new "Tracey Morgan Show," where we see the family antics.  Beginning Monday, December 15, 2003, we will also see video snypes of Chloe and Brady on NBC Daytime. You heard it at Soapdom first!

Kalouria also tipped us off as to who was going to benefit most from the much anticipated Christmas Miracle.  "The Hortons! " he revealed.  "It will bring joy to the entire family, during this tough time of Jack's death."  What happens that brings them such joy?  We'll just have to wait and see!

Thanks to NBC Daytime for filling Soapdom in on these exclusive tid bits.  To see it all play out, be sure to tune in to Days of our Lives and Passions beginning Monday, December 15, 2003.  Oh and you should watch this week, too!  You don't want to miss a minute.

“Days of our Lives” is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Columbia Pictures Television.  “Passions” is produced by NBC Studios in association with Outpost Farms Productions, Inc. and is taped in Studio City, CA. Lisa de Cazotte is the executive producer. Photos: JPI for NBC  (c) 2003 NBC

Behind the scenes Days of our Lives: Production Designer

As Production Designer on Days of our Lives, Dan Olexiewicz knows how to construct a set. Yes! He is the man behind the famous Horton Town Square, one of the most popular sets used on the show and probably the largest. I mean who would not want to shop there with those unique stores? Or the new TBD Bar where everyone gathers to talk about their trials and tribulations, or plot their next move.

In layman's terms, Olexiewicz controls the designing of the sets. "Yes! I do (Laughing). I do the color scheme, I determine what kind of furniture will be used, and I collaborate with the set decorator giving me a feel of what needs to be done," he said. "I usually begin with a plan that is turned into a floor plan, and we go from there."
