B&B welcomes new character Oscar in new castmember Gaskill

As previously reported, Brian Gaskill (Rafe, PC), has signed with The Bold and the Beaugiful to star as a-rough-around-the-edges character with connections to the Marone family.  We have just learned that the character's name is Oscar.

We have also learned that Gaskill is looking forward to his new daytime home at The Bold and the Beautiful. "I really was ready for something new," Gaskill reveals. "I'm at a time in my life where I want a new adventure, with new people."

Here's the set up:  Gaskill's character, Oscar, has ties to Las Vegas's gambling world, and to business magnate Massimo Marone. "[My character] wants to play by his rules, and that tends to ruffle other people's feathers," said Gaskill.

While there is no word on romantic links for his character, sources speculate that the actor could be paired with Emmy winner Jennifer Finnigan (Bridget), which would be fine with Gaskill. "She's a really good actress... I saw her [award-winning] tapes and she's great. But watching her do the simple stuff, the talking and listening, she's so there and so natural."

Born in Hawaii and raised in New Jersey, Gaskill broke into television as a hot rising star on Aaron Spelling's "Melrose Place" spin-off "Models Inc."   We have to admit, however, that his acting skill on that show was a tad questionable, but he looked so adorable!  The series garnered him much attention and he subsequently landed the role of "Bobby Warner" on ABC's "All My Children."  At AMC, he fine-tuned his acting instrument and this role brought Gaskill substantial recognition including being named "Best Younger Actor" by Daytime TV Magazine in 1997 and receiving a nomination for "Outstanding Younger Lead Actor" at the 1997 Soap Opera Awards.

After leaving "All My Children," Gaskill emerged in the film market with a role in Sony Screen Gems' "The Broken Hearts Club," and the critically acclaimed short film "Higher Grounds" opposite Ann Cusack.  Following his feature film appearances, Gaskill guest starred on numerous primetime series including "Undressed" (MTV), "Clueless." "The Pretender," and "Diagnosis Murder."  In 2001, Gaskill returned to daytime television in the role of "Rafe," a vampire slaying angel, whose task it is to bring guidance to the evil-afflicted people on the ABC series "Port Charles."

Dedicated and hard working, Gaskill also finds time in his busy schedule to support causes for the well-being of children, animals, teachers and education.

Brian lives in Los Angeles.  He celebrates his birthday on January 22nd.  He is 6'0" with blond hair and green eyes.

Past Blast

Jeanne Cooper, goodbye my friend

Every writer loves to write, but this is the type of piece you hope you never have to do, so here goes.

Even though the inevitable was there, hearing the reality of it is hard to accept. Jeanne Cooper Soap Icon Dies.

I had to stop what I was doing and say to myself this can't be true, or maybe this is a new soap opera twist, but then the reality sunk in that daytime TV and the entertainment industry lost one of it's greatest and I lost a true friend.
