ATWT's Mark Collier (Mike) Does Double Duty
America's Next Top Model's contestants will do whatever it takes to claim the title, even a screen test with As the World Turns' Mark Collier (Mike), complete with a stage kiss.
"[The characters] definitely are in love and haven't seen each other in a while," says Collier of the scene he stages in the reality competition's next episode, airing Feb. 17 (9 pm/ET, UPN).
"Some of the girls did well and some, I don't think acting's what they really wanted to do."
Of course, it isn't easy to kiss a complete stranger in front of a camera, so awkwardness was to be expected. "When you're acting, it's just a kiss for TV, but a lot of them really didn't understand that," says Collier, who used his southern charm to put them at ease. He also points out that service clerk-turned-couture creature Shandi pulled off her screen smooch like a pro.
"She's really kind of cute, and has a nice, bubbly personality." Despite being on the inside, Collier has no idea who will be standing tall when ANTM crowns its winner. He didn't even get to meet the grand diva of the ANTM catwalk, producer and host Tyra Banks. "I don't know where she was," he says, "but I did get to kiss all those girls, so I can't complain."
