EMMY 2006 ~ GH's Rick Springfield Rocks the Emmys

Award-winning actor and musician Rick Springfield, a.k.a. General Hospital's Dr. Noah Drake, will open The 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards with a mix of his best music - including his worldwide megahit, "Jesse's Girl" - to be telecast live for the very first time from Hollywood's Kodak Theater, FRIDAY, APRIL 28 (8:00-11:00 p.m. ET/PT; tape-delayed to the West Coast) on the ABC Television Network. This announcement was made today by Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime and Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss, executive producers of "The 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy(r) Awards."

"This year's Emmys will be a must-see television experience, and we are thrilled Rick will be opening the show," said Mr. Frons in making the announcement. "His performance will be sure to create an energy and frenzy that will make for a very entertaining evening."

Mr. Springfield added: "As the show makes its Hollywood debut, I can't think of a better way to open the Emmy telecast in its new home. The show is going to bigger and better than ever, and I am very excited to have the opportunity to entertain the audience at the Kodak Theater, as well as the millions of people who will be watching from their homes."

More news on the show, presenters, performers and other guest stars will be announced at a later date.

Hosted by Tom Bergeron ("Dancing with the Stars," "America's Funniest Home Videos") and Kelly Monaco ("General Hospital," Season-One winner of "Dancing with the Stars"), "The 33rd Annual Daytime Emmy Awards" will be broadcast live on ABC FRIDAY, APRIL 28, from Hollywood's famed Kodak Theater, the first time in the ceremony's history that the Daytime Emmy telecast will be presented on the West Coast. White Cherry Entertainment will produce the show.
