"I started to cry!"

If She Doesn’t Win, Hunt will Send the Winner Flowers!

Crystal Hunt (Lizzie Spaulding) of Guiding Light was with her mom in her apartment when she found out that her name was called and that she was nominated for an Emmy Award as Outstanding Younger Actress.

“Oh my God! Oh my God! Was my reaction,” Hunt said. “I was like...are you sure? Maybe I should do a double check before I start telling everyone. Maybe the Academy messed up," she said.  "And then, I started to cry.”

Soon after, however, congratulations started coming in from family, friends, and cast members. “I saw Kim Zimmer (Reva, a nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress), and she was yelling, Congratulations! I was just blown away.”

Hunt is excited because this is her first Emmy nomination. Being honest, she said that she doubts she will win, but plans on keeping her fingers crossed the entire evening of Emmy night just the same.

“I’m up against such talented girls. It will be the luck of the draw, and may the best gal win,” Hunt said. “I will tell you... whoever wins, I will send them a bouquet of flowers because they deserve it. If I win, I will dance the night away.”

The clip Hunt submitted to the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences was the final goodbye scene at the airplane between her and (ex-Phillip) Grant Aleksander.

Hunt said that just being nominated for an Emmy Award is an achievement in itself, and it takes a lot to be nominated.

“I really worked hard this year. I really gave it everything I have,” Hunt confided to Soapdom. “I always did say that one day I’ll be there. I know a lot of people say that, but I really strived to achieve it.”

Soapdom wants to know, what is it like playing Lizzie? “You know, it’s just great. It is such fun playing her, and just such fun to be on a great show like Guiding Light. I’ve been playing Lizzie over two years and just love it.”

Hunt elaborated that Guiding Light is a real team effort, and everyone involved with the show from the front of the cameras to the behind the scenes are just real supportive people, saying, “We all encourage each other.”

“I really can’t wait until May 20th. It will be such a special night. I’m so nervous,” Hunt said. “I’m really looking forward to this. So much that I even went out and bought a gorgeous dress, but it will be a surprise. You’ll have to wait to see it.”

Hunt said that no matter if she wins or looses, the fun and experience is something that will live on in her forever, and just by being a nominee, she has fulfilled her goal.

The adorable young blond began her career at six months old when she started appearing in pageants. As a child, her pageant talent was acting, and she has since appeared in the films From Earth to the Moon, Problem Child II and Homeless Children. She has also appeared in many commercials, including a spot for Disney’s 25th anniversary celebration and an anti-drug advertisement with *NSYNC.

Right now, Hunt is doing double duty. Beside playing Lizzie on Guiding Light, she’s filming a movie that she hopes will be picked up for national distribution called, “The Derby Stallion,” a film that is a cross between Karate Kid and Seabiscuit. Hunt plays the character of Jill, a tomboy that keeps everyone in line.

In her spare time, Hunt is involved in giving back to the community. She is involved in the Footprints Ministry, a program that collects shoes for the homeless and foster children.

As the World Stops Turning: Thoughts on the Cancellation of As the World Turns

With candid comments from Helen Wagner (Nancy), Eileen Fulton (Lisa), Yvonne Perry (ex Rosanna) and Jeanne Cooper (Kay, Young and the Restless)

When I heard (on Soapdom) that As the World Turns is being cancelled, all I can say is that my afternoons will never be the same. I come before you to reveal that when I heard the news, it was like my world suddenly stopped turning. In fact, you can say, it crashed.

Not only as a writer/reporter have I done stories on the show and its stars, but I also have been an avid watcher and fan for more years than I care to admit. I've visited the set, met and interviewed many of the stars, and can truly say that
