The National Academy Of Television Of Arts And Sciences Presents The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards In 42 Categories

The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences presented the 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards for the creative arts on Saturday, May 10, 2003 in 42 categories during simultaneous black-tie ceremonies held at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City and the Sheraton Universal Hotel in Los Angeles. A stellar line-up of Daytime celebrities including Susan Lucci, Kim Zimmer, Meredith Vieira and Lesli Kay presented the awards to a distinguished group of creative arts professionals at the Marriott Marquis hotel in New York City.  Emeril Lagasse hosted the event.  In Los Angeles, a star-studded line-up of celebrities including Bob Barker, Melody Thomas Scott, Tony Geary and Lisa Rinna presented the awards.  Todd Newton hosted the event.

Awards were presented in such categories as: Directing in a Talk Show; Casting Director for a Drama Series; Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design; Writing in a Children’s series; Costume Design/Styling; Multiple Camera Editing; Music Direction and Composition; Direction in a Children’s Special.

Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television programs that are broadcast nationally between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 p.m.  The eligibility period for this year’s Daytime Emmy Awards was January 1, 2002 – December 31, 2002.

The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards is a presentation of the National Television Academy in cooperation with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.

The Inside the Bubble Story…

The ABC Television Network received 11 awards, more than any other broadcast or cable network.  "All My Children" received the most awards, with a total of seven. Daytime Emmy Awards in 19 additional categories - primarily for performances and programs - will be presented at "The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards," airing live, FRIDAY, MAY 16 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network and will be hosted by Wayne Brady ("The Wayne Brady Show").

ABC Daytime stars Susan Lucci ("All My Children"), Meredith Vieira ("The View") and Anthony Geary ("General Hospital") were among the stars who participated in the presentation of awards to a distinguished group of creative arts professionals in 42 categories.

The awards were presented by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in cooperation with The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

Outstanding Achievement In Art Direction/Set Decoration/Scenic Design For A Drama Series

"One Life to Live" tied with "As the World Turns"

Along with As the World Turns' tie with One Life to Live, other Daytime Drama winners included the Bold and the Beautiful for Outstanding Achievement in Technical Direction/Electronic Camera/Video Control for a Drama Series and....

Passions won its first ever Emmy!  The show took home the Emmy for Outstanding Original Song for “Forever Near.”  John Henry Kreitler and Faith Rivera, composers and lyricists of the Outstanding Original Song "Forever Near," were both present at the LA ceremony to accept their Emmy Awards.  "We are absolutely thrilled at John and Faith's Emmy win," said Passions Executive Producer, Lisa de Cazotte. "Their win also marks the show's first Emmy, so as you can imagine, the cast and crew are all very excited."

Awards in 19 additional categories - primarily for performances and programs - will be presented at "The 30th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards," airing live, FRIDAY, MAY 16 (8:00-11:00 p.m., ET), on the ABC Television Network and will be hosted by Wayne Brady ("The Wayne Brady Show").
