Episode #11234----Rafe tells Sami and EJ that one woman in Salem purchased the boots Nicole described as the kidnapper's. Kate DiMera. When Kate returns, EJ, Rafe, and Sami confront Kate. Stefano arrives home from jail in time to come to Kate's defense. When Kate provides proof that she took the boots back, the group is deflated. Sami and EJ try not to give up hope. Later, EJ gets an idea from Arianna. He goes to Sami and Rafe and suggests holding a candlelight vigil on Christmas Eve to appeal to the person who took Sydney.

The mystery woman continues to cut out letters for a note to EJ and Sami. Later, she gets a call and is shocked by who's on the other end...

Bo doesn't know how to respond to Carly's declaration of love, but before he can, Hope shows up, after learning from Lexie about the corpse mishap with Carly. She came to tell Bo that the Hortons want Christmas Eve at their house. When Hope gets the feeling she interrupted a moment between Carly and Bo, Carly quickly leaves. Later, Carly runs into Lexie, who makes it clear to Carly that she takes Hope's side in the fight for Bo. Meanwhile, Hope questions Carly's hasty retreat, but gets nothing from Bo. They talk about Christmas, and how important it is in their lives; however, both realize Christmas may not be enough to bring them back together. After Hope leaves, Bo tries to call Carly, but she doesn't pick up.

Mia is confronted by Chad and Will about accepting a date to the winter dance from both of them. Hurt, Chad breaks their date and stalks off. Mia tries to explain to Will and wants to go to the dance with him if he does, and Will agrees. Maggie hears what happened and encourages Mia to seek comfort from her, not in boys.

Gabi tells Arianna about the dance at Salem High, while they make tamales at the Brady Pub. Chad tells Gabi what happened with Mia, and asks Gabi to the dance. Gabi happily accepts. However, she freaks out because she has nothing to wear. Arianna tries to help and outfits her in one of Arianna's dresses, but Gabi says it won't do. She can't go to the dance!
