When a steadfast, powerfully influential and sometimes cutthroat Genoa City character gets a visit from his father, things are sure to heat up on The Young and the Restless, television's highest-rated daytime drama.

In a major casting coup, The Young and the Restless has landed Academy Award-winning actor, George Kennedy ("Cool Hand Luke") to play this paternal role. Kennedy will appear in a three-episode arc and will portray Albert, the long-lost father of Genoa City business man, Victor Newman, played by Eric Braeden.  Kennedy's first appearance will be broadcast Wednesday, November 19 (12:30-1:30 PM ET, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM PT), on the CBS Television Network.

"We're very excited to have Mr. Kennedy on board," said Co-Head Writer and Co-Executive Producer Jack Smith.  "He has a very choice role to play as Victor's father and he'll be immediately involved in some extremely dramatic and life changing scenes for Victor Newman."

In addition to his Oscar-winning role, Kennedy's film and television career has spanned over 45 years.  After serving in the Armed Forces, his first acting job was with the Phil Silvers classic "Sgt. Bilko" shows, followed by a number of westerns, working with such actors as John Wayne, Clint Walker, Jim Arness, Richard Boone, Clint Eastwood and his "Cool Hand Luke" co-star Paul Newman.  Kennedy's long film career includes movies made with Cary Grant, Bette Davis, Jimmy Stewart, Joan Crawford, Henry Fonda, Ava Gardner, Bob Mitchum, Sophia Loren and Frank Sinatra.  He is well-known for his roles in the "Airport" films, as well as the "Naked Gun" series.

The Young and the Restless which is the #1 rated daytime drama for the past 771 weeks and recently celebrated its 30th anniversary, broadcasts weekdays (12:30-1:30 PM ET, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM PT) on the CBS Television Network and is a Sony Pictures Television production.
