Livia Frye's back to defend Kendall. Will her strategy work?

Livia to Help Kendall

Soapdom has just learned that Tonya Pinkins, who played Defense Attorney Livia Frye Cudahy on All My Children from 1991-1995 will come back to Pine Valley in a recurring role when her services are needed to assist Kendall (Alicia Minshew) battle her upcoming legal troubles.

Pinkins character Livia is no stranger to high profile cases in Pine Valley. She defended Brian Bodine (Matt Borlenghi) when he was on trial for the murder of Will Cortland (James Patrick Stewart) back in the early 1990s.  She was a constant symbol of strength and support for her teenage son, Terrance (Dondre T. Whitfield), and was forced to choose between two loves, selecting and marrying Tom Cudahy (Richard Shoberg) one of Erica’s former husbands.  Pinkins, a Tony Award-winning singer (she won a Tony for her performance in Jelly’s Last Jam on Broadway), got to sing at her wedding to Cudahy along with R&B great, Peobo Bryson, who guest starred on AMC for the duet.  Livia was written off the show when she went away to another part of the country, and hasn’t been heard from since – until now!

An accomplished theatre actress, singer, painter and photographer, Pinkins attended Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburg and moved to New York when she nabbed her first Broadway role, Stephen Sondheim's Merrily We Roll Along.  She has an impressive list of Broadway and off Broadway credits, along with starring roles in a number of feature films, television movies and series.  No stranger to daytime, prior to her role as Livia on AMC, she played Heather Dalton on As the World Turns from 1983-1986.

Will Livia’s talents as a defense attorney help get Kendall off the hook?  Will Kendall go to trial for the murder of Michael Cambias, or has she gotten herself into even more trouble?  Find out when Tonya Pinkins begins airing as Livia on Thursday, December 18, 2003 in this recurring role.
