From OLTL to PC to AMC, Kaye makes the rounds at ABC daytime

From Llanview to Port Charles to Pine Valley

ABC Daytime has cast current Daytime Emmy Award nominee Thorsten Kaye in the contract role of Zachery Slater, a Las Vegas casino owner on All My Children.  The announcement was made Monday, April 5, 2004 by Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime.

“I am thrilled to again be working with Thorsten Kaye and welcome him to the All My Children canvas,” said AMC executive producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers.  “Thorsten’s incredible talent and established appeal is certain to captivate our audience as his storyline unfolds.”

Kaye joined the cast of the now cancelled Port Charles in April 2000 as Irish doctor Ian Thornhart, a role that garnered the popular actor a Daytime Emmy Award nomination last year and yielded his current nomination.  Kaye is also well known to ABC Daytime fans as irresistible poet Patrick Thornhart of One Life to Live, a role he played from 1995-1997.  He has also worked in a number of television series including Sliders, Law & Order, Nothing Lasts Forever, and Air America.  Kaye has appeared on the London stage in such plays as The Winter’s Tale, Love for Love, and Tartuffe.  A seasoned Shakespearean actor, he has performed in numerous theatrical productions including Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, Love’s Labour’s Lost, Twelfth Night and The Taming of the Shrew.

An avid rugby player, Kaye played throughout Europe before enrolling in graduate school at Wayne State University. Upon earning his master’s degree in theatre and theatre history, he joined the Hilberry Repertory Theatre Company in Detriot. He has also published a book of original poetry, entitled “From Timber Ridge to Daymer Gardens,” with Dorothy Bridges, widow of actor Lloyd Bridges.  Proceeds from the book, which accompanied a CD release of the same name, go to Give Kids the World, a charity for sick kids.

Just how Zachery Slater and his Las Vegas casino will impact the lives of those back in Pine Valley remains to be seen. Be sure to tune in to see Kaye’s Pine Valley debut as Zachery Slater scheduled  to air on Thursday, May 20, 2004.
