As Soapdom reported late last week in our Suds Buzz column, it's official.  Corbin Bernsen joins the top-rated daytime drama General Hospital as John Durant.  The character of Durant is none other than Carly Corinthos' (Tamara Braun) biological father. His first airdate will be Friday, September 3rd.
"I am thrilled and excited to be part of this fantastic show and wonderful cast and re-explore the world of daytime drama," says Bernsen.

In the storyline, Carly begins a journey into her past as she determines to find her birth father. Her emotional quest begins with a found journal containing entries written by her mother, former prostitute Bobbie Spencer (Jackie Zeman) and some important information that could reveal her father's identity. Her search takes her to New York City where she eventually meets federal prosecutor John Durant, and she soon finds out he's the man she has been looking for. But John turns out to be more than Carly bargained for... someone who turns out to be her husband Sonny's (Emmy winner Maurice Benard) worst nightmare.

No stranger to daytime, Bernsen played the recurring role of a priest on the Young and the Restless. The character, whose name was Todd Williams, was Paul Williams (Doug Davidson) older brother.  In the real-life department, and for those who may not know, Bernsen's mom is none other than Y&R's Jeanne Cooper (Katherine Chancellor).

Along with dabbling in daytime, Bernsen has an extensive list of feature and primetime television credits including film roles in the popular and successful Major League movies (I, II and III), Great White Hype and Shattered, as well as television roles in the groundbreaking drama L.A. Law, The Cape for the ABC Television Network and, most recently, Call Me:  The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss.  No stranger to daytime, Bernsen played the recurring role of a priest on the Young and the Restless
