After months of speculation and rumor, Soapdom is delighted to confirm that Finoal Hughes is returning as Anna Devane on General Hospital, the role she originated two decades ago. Brian Frons, president, ABC Daytime announced that her return will be in time for the show's May sweeps storyline.

"As we continue to uphold the tradition of good storytelling and bringing back our legacy characters, it was a perfect choice to have Finola return to the canvas as part of the upcoming story for May. We have listened to the fans by creating one of the most anticipated reunions in daytime television between Robert and Anna Scorpio," said Frons in making the announcement.

"I am very excited to be reprising the role of Anna and reuniting with my 'General Hospital' family. My return has to do with Kimberly McCullough (Robin Scorpio), who convinced me to come back to Port Charles... and whining a lot," adds Ms. Hughes with a laugh.

In the upcoming storyline, Hughes literally "drops in" when, up to their old ways, Luke (Anthony Geary) and Robert (Tristan Rogers) are on the run from the law while visiting the fictional Maarkam Islands.

Last seen on General Hospital in 1992, Hughes has also been seen in Charmed, Dream On and Tracy Takes On. She most recently played the dual role of Alex/Anna Duvane on All My Children from 1999 to 2003. In addition, she is the host of the Style Network's No.-1 rated series, "How Do I Look?" She's also the author of the hit novel Soapsuds, as well as the creative visionary behind Finola's Jewel Box, a bohemian-chic jewelry collection that debuted on QVC in October 2005.

Soapdom welcomes Hughes back to the fold of General Hospital.  Her first airdate is scheduled for May 12.
