Llanview Gets Blast From the Past
John Loprieno is making a layover in Llanview this week on One Life to Live. Reprising his signature role as Cord Roberts, Flash's father, on Jan, 28, Cord arrives from London "for his daughter, who is facing a trauma."
The OLTL vet learned he'd being doing the quick cameo from a trustworthy outlet. "I'd gotten a couple of calls from the press stating, 'We hear that you are coming back,' and I said, 'You've got better sources than I do'," he says with a chuckle.
Only on for a day, Loprieno stresses it was just long enough. "Short and sweet," he declares. "It's that old showbiz adage, always leave them wanting more."
Since leaving OLTL in 1997, Loprieno has concentrated on writing and directing. "I've got a couple of screenplays in various forms of development. And I'm working at Moorpark College, directing a production of Mice and Men."
Loprieno also participated in ABC's writer development program last summer. "Can't really say anything about it yet," he replies on whether he'll become a daytime scribe. "But never say never." His energies may be focused behind the scenes, but Loprieno wouldn't mind another engagement in front of the camera. "I told [OLTL executive producer] Frank Valentini, anytime you need me, just give me a call and I'm there. "
Julie Pinson (ex Eve, PC) Finds New Daytime Home
Former Port Charles leading lady Julie Pinson (ex-Eve Lambert) has landed a recurring contract role on CBS's The Young and the Restless as Shiloh, a woman who will make a connection with J.T. and his music.
"We are so excited. We've been waiting to get back into daytime for some time," says Pinson's manager, Michael Bruno.
Pinson, whose character was killed off PC after a five-year-run, was up for several parts after her departure. "We were very close to getting something at Guiding Light and Days of Our Lives," Bruno reveals. But the Y&R role — for which Pinson auditioned — has become a perfect fit. "It's a likable character. Smart, exciting, sassy and in the record business," Bruno teases.
Added bonus is that Pinson will finally get to work alongside her daytime idol, Michael Damian, who plays rocker Danny Romalotti. "Julie used to to watch him with Lauralee [Bell (Christine)] a few years back. She's a big fan."
Though the role is recurring, Pinson and Bruno both hope that Shiloh becomes a permanent fixture in Genoa City. "We would sign for 50 years," he says with a chuckle. Pinson makes her Y&R debut February 16, 2004.
Lamas to B&B
Heartthrob Lorenzo Lamas has joined the cast of The Bold and the Beautiful in a contract role as sexy Los Angeles firefighter Hector Ramirez, father of Forrester's newest intern, Caitlin Ross.
Lamas, who enjoyed a nine-year run on Falcon Crest, has never before appeared on daytime television despite having an extensive acting portfolio.
Lamas made his acting debut in 1969, landing the uncredited role of Native America in 1969 film "100 Guns." His first credited role came nine years later when he played Tom Chisum in the motion picture "Grease."
Despite his success in motion pictures, Lamas will probably always be remembered for playing Lance Cumson on Falcon Crest. Last season Lamas appeared on the ABC reality series Are You Hot? Lamas begins taping B&B on January 26. His first airdate is scheduled for February 18, 2004.
