Yes, it's true. As reported in Soapdom's AMC casting section, teen heartthrob, Jesse McCartney (ex JR), returns to ABC's "All My Children," playing himself and not the role of JR Chandler, which he played from 1998-2001. The announcement was made today by Brian Frons, president, Daytime, Disney, ABC Television Group. The episodes will air on September 8 and 12 on "All My Children."
The storyline has teen rivals Colby (Ambyr Childers) and Sydney (Taylor Gildersleeve) celebrating their sweet 16 birthday parties together. During the festivities, the two girls are treated to special appearances by Jesse McCartney and Jordan Pruitt. Both Hollywood Records recording artists will perform their hit songs "Right Where You Want Me" and "Outside Looking In," respectively.
The fourth actor to play Adam Chandler, Jr., McCartney was bascially asked to leave in 2001 when the character of JR became a victim of SORAS (soap opera rapid aging syndrome) and the role was filled by the older, more seasoned Jacob Young. McCartney's acting career hasn't skipped a beat, however. He appeared as a contract regular in the TV series, "Summerland," and now has a starring role in the new feature film, "Keith," where he plays the title character. In between gigs on shows like "Law & Order" and "The Strange Legacy of Cameron Cruz," his recording and musical performing career has soared.
McCartney will release his eagerly anticipated new album, "Right Where You Want Me," on September 19. This is McCartney's follow up to his platinum debut, "Beautiful Soul."
Jordan Pruitt's video for her debut single, "Outside Looking In," is currently in rotation on the Disney Channel and is featured in the Disney Channel movie "Read It And Weep."The episodes will air on September 8 and 12 on "All My Children."
