As the World Turns Episode Recap, Friday, November 14, 2008

Episode #13,397----Brad tries to get his old job back at Oakdale Now but Kim says she can’t hire him. Katie calls an old friend at a station in Chicago and they go to see him, hoping they can work there. The friend says he’s heard about Brad’s trouble and he can’t use him. They leave disappointed and are getting ready to head home when Katie decides to get some coffee for the way. While she’s in the coffee shop, Brad sees Spencer. He calls out to her but she runs. He gives chase, but she’s gone. When Katie returns, he tells her Spencer is alive.

Jack and Carly fight when Carly says the only way she’ll let Jack see Sage is if he promises Janet won’t be present. Jack refuses and Carly goes to Bonnie who tells her she’ll have to take Jack to court to get her way. Carly agrees. Meanwhile, furious Jack goes to Janet who is willing to step back but Jack refuses. They end up making love. Carly arrives and presents Jack with a summons to appear at a hearing. Jack is furious and offers to marry Janet right away. Janet is upset, says she wants to marry Jack but not because he’s angry at his ex-wife. Jack assures her they will get married.

Parker comes to get Liberty to work on America’s Second Harvest. Liberty tells Janet that Parker can work on Carly, get her to back off but Parker is upset, saying he can’t get Carly to do anything. Liberty apologizes for putting Parker on the spot and they almost kiss. Parker says she’s sending mixed signals and Liberty admits she likes him but they need to stay just friends.

When ABC announced the cancellation of long time fan favorite soap operas All My Children and One Life to Live in the spring of 2011, all havoc broke loose. Passionate fans took to the internet, boycotted ABC's advertisers, called for the firing of then ABC Daytime head, Brian Frons (who spearheaded the cancellations), picketed the studio, did anything and everything they possibly could to let the network know just how unhappy they were with the network's decision to dump their continuing stories for the more cost efficient lifestyle and talk shows that were to replace the soaps.

One such loyal fan, Flo DiBona, has chronicled the events of this tumultuous time in her new book, Soapers.
