As the World Turns LogoIn the ever changing cacaphony of musical chairs that happens in the writing departments of every soap at one time or another, As the World Turns has taken a leap and added a new headwriter to it's storytelling stable.  Emmy Award-winning writer, David Kreizman joins current headwriter, Jean Passanate, to form a new headwriting team.  As the World Turns executive producer, Christopher Goutman announced that

the new team will take over immediately.  For those of you who may not know, Kreizman was a member of the Guiding Light headwriting team through the end of its run. In a statement, Goutman said, "I am thrilled that Dave and Jean will make up the new headwriting team for As The World Turns. Both writers have an incredible respect for the show’s rich history and I am confident this partnership will generate the exciting, character-based stories for which As The World Turns is known.”

So far, the jury is out on how fans feel about this.  Time will tell if it's a good move on As the World Turns' part or not.  With Kreizman's Emmy nods, it certainly looks like a positive step.

Now for a little background.

Passanante joined the As The World Turns writing team as Co-Headwriter in 2001 and was named Headwriter in 2005.  During her tenure, As The World Turns has been the recipient of four Daytime Emmy Awards, two Writers Guild Awards and two GLAAD Media Awards. Prior to joining As The World Turns, Passanante served as Co-Headwriter of All My Children, for which she received Writers Guild and GLAAD Media Awards, as well as an Emmy nomination.  Previously, she served in a similar capacity on the writing teams of Another World (1998-99) and One Life to Live (1992-98), for which she won an Emmy Award in 1994.  Her other daytime experience was as Director of Writer Development for ABC Daytime Television.

Kreizman began his career as a Production Intern at Guiding Light in 1995.  During his early years there, he held positions as a Production Coordinator and an Associate Producer.  He joined the show’s writing team in 1997.  Kreizman was named Headwriter of Guiding Light in 2004 and received an Emmy Award in 2007.  In 2008, he became a member of the show’s newly formed headwriting team.  Kreizman also served as a writer for MTV’s Spyder Games (2001), where he was nominated for an Emmy.

Behind the scenes Days of our Lives: Production Designer

As Production Designer on Days of our Lives, Dan Olexiewicz knows how to construct a set. Yes! He is the man behind the famous Horton Town Square, one of the most popular sets used on the show and probably the largest. I mean who would not want to shop there with those unique stores? Or the new TBD Bar where everyone gathers to talk about their trials and tribulations, or plot their next move.

In layman's terms, Olexiewicz controls the designing of the sets. "Yes! I do (Laughing). I do the color scheme, I determine what kind of furniture will be used, and I collaborate with the set decorator giving me a feel of what needs to be done," he said. "I usually begin with a plan that is turned into a floor plan, and we go from there."
