Jack agrees to take Leo's case, but tells Erica that Vanessa's confession tape may not be admissible in court. David agrees to testify and Leo later hears him make another disparaging remark about Vanessa. Later, David and Erica are stunned when Palmer claims he never heard Vanessa confess to anything. A reluctant Erica then agrees to allow Leo to stay at her place.

On the other side of town, Gillian admits to Eugenia that she is still very much in love with Ryan. Ah ha! Then, Ryan reads Gillian's journal at his apartment, and realizes that the entries are very similar to the messages he's been receiving from "Cynthia." After Ryan reads Gillian's journal, he catches on to more of Greenlee's manipulations, and goes to set things straight.

Meanwhile, Charlotte catches on to Alex and Edmund's real feelings for each other, and realizes that she still may have a use for Dimitri. Later, a grief-stricken Dimitri continues to believe that Alex and Edmund are dead.
