Gillian continues to keep Ryan in the dark about the pregnancy. In the meantime, Vanessa has been shot and "Arlene" and Hayley are missing. It doesn't take long for Mateo to jump to a likely conclusion -- that "Arlene" might have shot Vanessa and took Hayley with her.

Back on dry land, Dixie and David are still together after their lovemaking. When David's cell phone rings, Dixie answers it. It's Jake. Jake tells Dixie that Vanessa has been shot and needs David's skilled surgeon's hands. Then, an understandably curious Jake inquires why Dixie is with David.

Speaking of David, he may be the only one who can operate on Vanessa, but his hatred for her is so strong, he does not want to perform the operation that could very well be the only thing that could save her life.
