 Walt Willey     Kathleen Gavatt

The Island Theater Company is proud to announce their production of A. R. Gurney's Love Letters and welcome Clausen Properties, Inc. as presenting sponsor of the production. Love Letters will kick off the Island Theater Company's 2013 season.

Co-starring in this production is Walt Willey, perhaps best known for his almost 25 years playing All My Children's "Jackson Montgomery", as "Andre Makepeace Ladd III".

Local "favorite" Kathleen "Kat" Gravatt, most recently seen in Les Liaisons Dangereuses in Naples, will co-star as "Melissa Gardner".

Love Letters is a Pulitzer Prize for Drama nominated play by A. R. Gurney. The play centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd III. Their stories are beautifully told through the notes, letters and cards - in which over nearly 50 years, they discuss their hopes and ambitions, dreams and disappointments, victories and defeats - that have passed between them throughout their separated lives.

It was first performed in 1988 at the Long Wharf Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut with Joanna Gleason and John Rubinstein.

Directed by John Tillinger, it opened with Kathleen Turner and John Rubinstein on March 27, 1989, at the off-Broadway Promenade Theatre, where it ran for 64 performances. The play was performed only on Sunday and Monday evenings and changed its cast weekly. Among those who appeared in it were Barbara Barrie,Philip Bosco, Stephen Collins, Victor Garber, Julie Harris, George Grizzard, Anthony Heald, George Hearn, Richard Kiley, Dana Ivey, William Hurt, Marsha Mason, Christopher Reeve, Holland Taylor, George Segal, Christopher Walken, Joan Van Ark, Treat Williams, and Frances Sternhagen.

Mr. Willey, a frequent visitor to Marco Island, has a long-standing relationship with the Island Theater Company. He premiered his one-man show, Wild Bill! An Evening with James Butler Hickok, here in March of 2012, and has served as advisor for other productions.

Ms. Gravatt holds a Master's Degree in Acting. She has appeared in many local productions including The Odd Couple, Macbeth, Always Patsy Cline, Steel Magnolias and most recently in Les Liason Dangereuses. This is her first collaboration with the Island Theater Company and she is looking forward to working with Walt Willey.

Days of our Lives' Brendan Michael Coughlin enjoys playing Tad and being a new dad

When asked what it is like to play Tad on Days of our Lives, Brendan Michael Coughlin shouts exuberantly, "I love him!"

Coughlin has been playing the so-called behind the scenes instigator for the last two years. He has no family that is ever mentioned on the show, but he is there. He came on as Will's (Guy Wilson) best friend, but when it became clear that Will was gay, Tad did everything but bash and degrade and mock him. The irony? At the recent wedding of Will and Sonny (Freddie Smith), he was best man. Go figure!

"I know. It has been a wild ride. I did a whole turn around, and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed doing the wedding. I really enjoy playing this guy. He is a total goof-off. He means well, but is always on the wrong side of the rope." Coughlin said. "I have grown to love him. He is comic relief. I always had dramatic roles, so this is fun."
