General Hospital Check Up - Week of January 19, 2015

Billy Miller (Jake/Jason, General Hospital) (c)Soapdom/LMSCarly steps up to protect Jake

I have to hand it to Carly. She really knows nothing about Jake, yet she stepped up to protect him. Poor Jake had no idea why his bag of tricks contained a gun, among other things. And as bad as it looked, Carly stayed mum about what she was thinking – Jake was the one who helped free Faison.

Carly feels a connection to Jake. She doesn't know why she's so drawn to Jake – a virtual stranger. But we all know why. Hopefully soon, Carly will figure out that Jake is really Jason. In the meantime, Jake is very fortunate to have Carly in his corner.

The Bold and the Beautiful hits 7000 with a very special show

John McCook (Eric, Bold and the Beautiful)

By Mark Edward Wilows

This Friday, January 23, 2015, The Bold and the Beautiful is celebrating a milestone. It will air its 7000th episode. The show has been on the air since 1987 bringing the high fashion industry of Los Angeles to the airwaves along with all the trials and tribulations of some of the hottest characters on daytime TV. The show centers around the Forrester family, headed by patriarch, Eric Forrester (John McCook).

And who would have thought the show would still be going strong 28 years later and dominating in the ratings? "Certainly not I," said Lee Phillip Bell, co-creator of the show with her husband the late great William J. Bell. "I never thought the show would go as long as it has, and I am thrilled that people enjoy watching it."

Young and the Restless casts new Kyle, Lachlan Buchanan

Lachlan Buchanan (Kyle, Young and the Restless)

By Linda Marshall-Smith

The search is over. The Young and the Restless have cast the role of Kyle, Jack Abbott's son. Australian born Lachlan Buchanan is the lucky actor who won the role, and even luckier for us. This young Aussie is the epitome of handsome. He's 5'11", with the most gorgeous blue eyes and blond hair. Hailing from Maleny in Queensland, Australia, he'll have to use an American accent for his new role. He quipped to Soap Opera Digest who broke the story in January 29th...

"It's going to be a fun challenge," he said. "I'm really looking forward to playing Kyle."

General Hospital Check Up - Week of January 12, 2015

Tyler Christopher (Nikolas, GH)Nikolas shows his dark side

So it's been a while since we've seen the darker side of Nikolas, but he's back. Or so it seems. Nikolas was involved in the election scandal, which seems out of character for him. So I wonder if he's really just pretending to be "bad."

The Bold and the Beautiful 7000th Episode

Bradley P. Bell (c)Soapdom/LMSOn Friday, January 23, 2015, The Bold and the Beautiful will achieve it's 7000th episode! As the youngest of the four remaining daytime dramas on the air, I bet there are many of you who remember episode #1, which aired just over 27 years ago.

In honor of this monumental milestone, stage 31 at CBS Television City where B&B tapes daily, has been named the Bradley P. Bell Stage and the 7000th episode is being dedicated to Bell, the show's Executive Producer and Head writer.

In a real life soap opera, Hollywood royalty, Francesca Hilton, dies at age 67

Francesca Hilton and Soapdom's Mark Edward Wilows at Day of Days event, November 8, 2014 (c)Soapdom/LMSIt's funny how things turn out. Just two months ago, I did not even know the name Francesca Hilton. As the daughter of hotel mogul, Conrad Hilton and Hungarian born bomb shell, Zsa Zsa Gabor, she was indeed Hollywood Royalty, but she wasn't really famous in any glamorous Hollywood sense of the word.

She did make headlines when she tried to claim what was probably rightfully hers, like part of her father's vast estate.

General Hospital's Kristen Alderson speaks out to fans on her choice to leave the show

Kristen Alderson (Kiki, General Hospital)ABC Daytime soap opera fans were dealt another blow last week, when fan favorite, and soap opera darling, Kristen Alderson, announced that she was leaving General Hospital after a three-year run.

Alderson, twenty-three, began her drama career at age six, when she started on ABC's now defunct, One Life to Live as Starr Manning, the daughter of Todd and Blair. Fans watched as the adorable little girl grew into womanhood in Llanview, and even had a child of her own.
